Alex is mum to Hudson (3) and Spencer (1), is a self-confessed lover of kids fashion and styling, and is known on Instagram as @mylovesmystyle. Her beautifully styled images of her children and their rooms caught our eye, and so we asked her to share a little bit about how she went about putting together Spencer’s nursery…
Tell us a bit about you?
I have been a mummy for just over 3 years and a wife for just over 4, I have worked in sales and retail for the past 8 years but started my own business as a newborn/family photographer 2 years ago and was doing that part time. Recently we moved to a new town and I am now focusing more on my kids and business, and hope to be busy enough in 2017 that I do not need to return to outside work.
How would you describe your overall style?
I wouldn’t describe myself as having one style and I think that is totally OK. Every room in my house is different and I love it that way.
Did you have a particular ‘look’ or theme that you were going for when putting together Spencer’s room?
I was never really sure what direction I wanted to take Spencer’s room in the beginning and only starting putting his nursery together when he was around 4 months old. At first it was a mix of tribal and grey and white. But now its a mix of tribal and boho and I love how it has turned out.

Tell us your favourite place to shop:
We have a lot of décor from Love Tildy and she has an amazing range of kids décor, in saying that I never just shop in one place. I love supporting all small businesses and you won’t see a single item in the boys’ rooms that I don’t love.

Did you DIY any part of Spencer’s room?
The shelf above Spencer’s cot was made out of raw timber and brackets from Bunnings that I sanded back and put together myself. The total cost was about $20 all up!
Biggest splurge?
My biggest splurges in Spencer’s room were his teepee and our OYOY rug.

How long did it take you to put it all together?
We have only just moved house so its only taken me around a month to get it how it is now and I think I am happy with it. I do have a lot more décor that isn’t displayed and that’s because I am constantly shuffling things around. “Faffing” is one of my favourite things to do!
