As January comes to an end (Oh My Gosh!), we’re super excited to be sharing Andie’s room with you! This gorgeous space, styled by mum Kobi, is based around a soft gray and pink colour scheme, featuring classic sheer window dressing.
Tell us a bit about you:
I am a teacher at a beautiful private school in Melbourne. I am most passionate about student wellbeing and I love being around children. I am on maternity leave at the moment as we have just had our first daughter, Andie. It is such a beautiful time.
How would you describe your overall style?
We have just renovated our whole home and I have completely loved designing each room. My most Favourite room to decorate was Andie’s nursery. My home is neutral tones and I feel that it is most important to create a feeling in each room that makes you want to stay forever!
What “look” or theme did you set out to achieve with your child’s room?
I wanted Andie’s room to be her sanctuary. A place that she will love to sleep and grow. I wanted it to feel soft and warm and for her to know how much she is loved. When we were renovating, Andie’s room was the only room that was finished so I used to go in there and lock myself away for my daily zen. My partner thought I was nuts, I’m sure.
Where is your favourite place to shop for kid’s décor?
I am continually looking for inspiration and pieces on instagram, Pinterest and houZz. I love to find online boutiques and find pieces that are not commercial and wont be seen in every nursery. I also Love adairs – such beautiful textures.[See the full list of Kobi’s faves at the bottom of this post]
What did you save on / get for a bargain or DIY?
I purchased the feature light from ikea and has to fold and scrunch it myself to get the textured effect. It was cheap as chips but looks beautiful!
What item was your biggest splurge?
There are lots of beautiful items from the chair to the elephant head to the limited edition prints and hot air balloons. I love them all together.
How long did it take to put it all together?
Months of inspiration. I knew exactly what I wanted when I was pregnant and put it all together quite quickly as I was so excited. We didn’t know what sex our baby was going to be so i kept the room very neutral (which matches my house anyway). Since Andie has been born I have added some personal touches.
What’s your favourite part of the room, and why?
My favourite part of the room is the feeding chair corner. It is so peaceful and lovely to sit with my girl and look around at her lovely room. I also love the flower tiara I added to the elephant head. It is the first piece I purchased when Andie was born to add a little touch of girl to her room.
Is there anything you wish you’d done differently? If so, what?
No, I love it all. I can’t wait to continue to change and transform the room as Andie grows older. My next move is to remove the feeding corner and create a reading haven for her.
